Foreign Management of US Ports
I was as surprised as anyone at the announcement that a foreign company was to be given a contract to manage United States seaports. The furor was mostly over the fact that we appeared to be giving foxes a contract to guard our chickens.
I don't object to this now-dead contract because the recipients are Arabs. (I suspect that, if it had been common knowledge that a British company most recently held the contract, the objections would have also been loud.)
I object because I see no reason why the United States should farm out such a contract to any foreign entity. Why the hell aren't we taking care of our own ports?
