Word Errors: flaunt/flout
One of the word errors that even educated people commonly make is to use 'flaunt' when they mean 'flout', as in "Jaywalkers flaunt traffic rules," and "Illegal immigrants flaunt border restrictions."
To flout means to show contempt for something such as a law or a social convention.
To flaunt is to display ostentatiously. People who wear gobs of jewelry and build huge new mansions flaunt their wealth.
And that's jew-ell-ree not jew-luh-ree, by the way.
